Acronyms
Although in every instance the full names of committees, commissions, etc. are used, records are also searchable by acronyms, e.g., when searching for reports relating to the United Nations Environment Programme, the acronym UNEP may be substituted as a search term -- UNEP AND report (example: Report of the UNEP Governing Council).

Biographies
UN-I-QUE allows easy retrieval of the symbols of documents or press releases detailing the appointment/biography of senior UN officials (e.g., Under-Secretaries-General, Assistant Secretaries-General); special envoys, representatives or experts; heads of agencies, programmes or missions; force commanders or chief military observers. Biographies relating to Permanent Representatives are not included. Appointments are covered comprehensively from 1985 onwards, selectively for earlier years. Most senior appointments are announced in either a document or a press release; however, such appointments may also be made without special notification. To retrieve biographical records use either the last name of the person in question or keywords from the title of the office or both. To the extent possible, biographical records are currently being merged so that all holders of a particular office appear in one record (example: DPI Under-Secretaries-General).

Commemorative Speeches
To access the listing of symbols for statements made on the occasion of the 25th, 40th and 50th anniversaries of the Organization, type the number of the session (i.e., 25th, 40th or 50th) AND anniversary AND statements (example: 50th Anniversary Statements). For the listing of symbols for statements made at the Millennium Summit, type millennium AND statements.

Conferences/Summits
To retrieve a listing of symbols of the final documents of conferences sponsored by the General Assembly from 1948 (the date of the first conference) to the present, use A/CONF; for a corresponding list of conferences sponsored by the Economic and Social Council, use E/CONF. To identify listings of symbols of communiqués, final documents, etc., transmitted to the United Nations by intergovernmental bodies, use decl AND the name or acronym of the intergovernmental body (e.g., Organization of African Unity or OAU). Diplomatic Relations
